Christmas Late Deals

Well its such a blustery night out there tonight, at the moment I'm sat in my office looking for late deals for Christmas and New Year for my clients...will keep you posted on what I find!

Darcey Bussell named Godmother of the Azura!

Former Royal Ballet principal dancer Darcey Bussell has been named Godmother of P&O Cruises' new 115,000-ton ship Azura.

Bussell, who officially retired from ballet in 2007 and now lives in Sydney, Australia, will be naming the 3,100-passenger ship in front of 1,200 invited guests at a gala ceremony in Southampton on April 10 2010.

P&O Cruises managing director Carol Marlow said Darcey Bussell would be the perfect Godmother as she epitomises glamour, sophistication and elegance, which are all qualities the cruiseline has strived to achieve in Azura.

"Azura will offer the service, quality and entertainment associated with cruising at its very best and as dance will play a key part in this, it is entirely fitting for Darcey to give Azura the best possible start in life."

Bussell said she is "excited and honoured" to be Godmother, but also "somewhat filled with trepidation".

The naming ceremony will benefit three international charities chosen by Bussell - Sydney Dance Company, the Royal Ballet School and the Prince's Rainforest Project.

Azura's maiden voyage departs Southampton on April 12 and is a 16-night cruise calling at ports including Malaga, Corfu, Dubrovnik and Venice.

British Airways and Iberia move closer to merger

The boards of British Airways and Iberia have agreed the basis of a proposed merger which is expected to be completed in 2010.

After months of talks, a memorandum of understanding has been signed setting out the basis for the deal.

British Airways will have 55% and Iberia 45% of the shares of the new company, which will be registered in Madrid for tax purposes. The operating and financial headquarters of the group will be based in London.
The new group would have 419 aircraft and fly to 205 destinations.
BA chief executive Willie Walsh, who will become group chief executive, said: "The merger will create a strong European airline well able to compete in the 21st century. Both airlines will retain their brands and heritage while achieving significant synergies as a combined force."

My life as a travel agent

Hi and welcome to my blog!

I have been in travel for many years with experience ranging from a Red Coat in Butlins to a Holiday Rep in Ibiza and now to settled life working for myself as a Travel Consultant.

After being taken on holiday every year as a child, travel has been banged into me from an early age, with my life so entwined with travel, I even decided to get married at the same time as going on holiday to Cyprus! Now I spend my days helping people build their dream escapes and other days well.... sorting out a cheap week in Benidorm! No day is ever the same in travel that is for sure!!

With this blog I'm hoping to provide you with amusing tales, stories of travels and hints and tips!
